Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets were a member of the WHA World Hockey Association from 1972-1979. Along with the Edmonton Oilers, Quebec Nordiques and New England Whalers, the Jets would expand from the WHA to the NHL National Hockey League in 1979. The New England Whalers would change their name to Hartford Whalers.
The Winnipeg Jets had much success in the WHA winning 3 Avco Cup Championships including the final year in which they defeated the young Edmonton Oiler team that had a rising star named Wayne Gretzky who would go on to break numerous records in the NHL.
